Public Notification – Mandatory Chassis Verification for Emission Testing & Certification

The Bhutan Construction and Transport Authority (BCTA) notifies the general public that, with immediate effect, emission testing will include mandatory physical verification of the chassis number.

To ensure the integrity of the national emission compliance system, testing will no longer be conducted based on the registration number alone.

What Vehicle Owners Need to Know:

  • Chassis Verification: Before an emission test is performed, the physical chassis number must match the Registration Certificate (RC) and eRaLIS records.
  • Preventing Fraud: This measure prevents the illegal use of registration plates on vehicles that have not passed actual emission standards.
  • Certification: An emission certificate will only be issued once the chassis number is successfully counter-verified alongside the Registration Certificate.

Therefore, the public are requested to extend their full cooperation to the authorized emission testing centers in carrying out this mandatory verification. Your support is essential in ensuring the transparency and credibility of our national environmental standards.
